HERE ARE SOME EXCERPTS FROM WHAT HAPPENED ON PDRF'S BATTLE BY THE BAY YESTERDAY.

AS USUAL PMA CHRISTMAS TREE WAS INSTALLED IN THE MORNING, THE AMBULANCE WAS PRESENT AND SO WAS THE FIRE TRUCK. TEAM AUTOPLUS HEADED BY RAYMOND GO WERE THE EARLY BIRDS. THEY CAME IN BEFORE LUNCH GIVING THEM THE CHANCE TO TEST AND TUNE THEIR CARS BEFORE THE RACE. TWO TOP GUN CARS WERE ON THEIR TEAM, NAMELY THE FASTEST CAR ( HATCHBACK) AND THE EVOLUTION 5 OF VIC PENA. ALSO THEIR TWO IMPORTED TUNERS WERE PRESENT.

NOT UNTIL AFTER LUNCH AT ABOUT 3PM THE OTHER TEAMS STARTED TO ARRIVE. WE ARRIVED AT ABOUT LUNCHTIME WHERE ONLY AUTOPLUS AND A FEW OTHER INDIVIDUALS WERE PRESENT. ANYWAY A TOTAL OF 36 CARS ENTERED THE EVENT. THE ORGANIZERS FOR SOME REASON DECIDED NOT TO RUN THE QUICK 8. SO THEY WENT ON WITH THE BRACKET RACING. IN AN EFFORT TO ACHIEVE ANOTHER TEN SECOND RUN, TEAM AUTOPLUS' CIVIC HATCHBACK USED THE 26" M/T SLICK TIRES WHICH RESULTED TO A BUSTED AXLE AND SOME OTHER MECHANICAL GEARING PROBLEMS THAT FORCED THEM TO RETIRE EARLY. TEAM MATONETICS WERE ALSO PRESENT WITH THE JUST TWO AND THREE CIVIC TURBO HATCHBACKS, TURBO SIR OF WILLY CHUA, AND SOME OTHER ALL MOTOR HATCHBACKS AS WELL. OUR ENTRIES WERE A COUPLE OF ALL MOTOR CIVIC HATCHBACKS, ONE A STREET CAR AND THE OTHER ONE THE BLACK FULL RACE RECORD HOLDER DRIVEN BY MARVIN.

TIME TRIALS KICKED OFF AT ABOUT 4PM, IF I REMEMBERED RIGHT. MATO TAN AS EXPECTED BESTED THE FIELD WITH A TIME OF 11.2 ET FOLLOWED BY OJIE MAMURIC WITH THE JUST 3 HATCHBACK AT 11.5 ET. I'M NOT TOO SURE WHAT AUTOPLUS BEST TIME WAS BEFORE THEY RETIRED. MARVIN GOT A 12.9 ET DURING TIME TRIALS, JUST ENOUGH TO QUALIFY HIM FOR THE PRO CATEGORY. OUR RED ALL MOTOR HATCHBACK BEST TIME WAS 13.9 GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE SPORTSMAN CATEGORY. ONLY 2 CARS AND 1 JEEPSTER QUALIFIED FOR THE SPORTSMAN CATEGORY.

THE CHAMPION FOR THE PRO CATEGORY WAS VIC PENA ON AN EVO 5 WITH MARVIN AS RUNNER UP ( BROKE OUT). THE JEEPSTER CHAMPION AND ME RUNNER UP ( BROKE OUT TOO.). I CAN'T REMEMBER THE TWO OTHER LOWER CLASSES.

AT THE FUN CLASSES I GOT THE ALL MOTOR CLASS. VIC PENA FOR THE ALL BLOWN. AN SIR FOR THE ALL HONDA. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE OTHERS.

MARVIN AGAIN BROKE HIS RECORD WITH A TIME OF 12.7 ET AND BACKED UP BY 12.686ET AND 12.565 ET@105.88mph WHICH IS NOW NEW ALL MOTOR HONDA RECORD.
