Philippine Association of Drag Racers
2nd General Assembly
Jan. 06, 2001

Last Saturday was the date of the 2nd general assembly of the Philippine Association of Drag Racers. The meeting was held in the parking lot between the Green Hills theatre and Jolibee, in Green Hills.

For the second time around, the meeting began on the late side. It was set for 10pm. Officers of PAD began to show at 11pm! Talk about slow reaction time! But, as soon as there were enough of officers around, the meeting began. With the exception of Dondi Montecillo, PAD Chairman, who was in Cebu on a business trip.

Topics covered were about the transparency of money. PAD was adamant to state that all monies collected WILL be reported as well as where the money goes. So, if you are still wondering if this organization is straight, fear not, they are. No scams here.

PAD officers wanted to express that NOTHING is decided without the members. EVERYTHING is put to a VOTE. No monopolies here either.

To all PAD members, benefits await you! Beginning with the first event for the New Year! The PDRF will give a discount to PAD. This only works, though, for PAID members. PAD will registers its members early, thus, the discount. So, if you haven't paid your yearly PAD dues, do so before Jan. 13th!

Other benefits are MORE PRIZES for event participants. Cash prizes as well as some merchandise donated by various shops and individuals will be given to the top finishing spots in each class. This of course applies ONLY to PAID PAD members. This in itself is an incentive to join! DragRacingPinoy.com will also donate our ever popular T-Shirts and stickers to those who win their respective classes.

To date, there have been over a 120 commitments to join PAD. Most of which haven't paid their yearly dues of 1000Php. I suggest you pay up before Jan.13 so you, too, can enjoy the many benefits of membership.

For now, only teams may join PAD. If you are interested in joining, all you need to do is form a team of three (3), give it a name and elect a "team leader". That's it! Your team can now be part of PAD. You will then be assigned to a regional director, to whom you will coordinate with.

Stay tuned for more updates on this organization for teams and drivers.

The Philippine Association of Drag Racers (PAD) :: First General Assembly
Tuesday, 12 December 2000 08:00

The Philippine Association of Drag Racers (PAD)
First General Assembly
12.29.2000
Fat Willy's Parking Lot

Let me start this article by saying that, PAD is NOT affiliated with DragRacingPinoy.com in any way. It is
NOT an affiliate organization. Some people may have gotten the wrong idea since the people responsible for forming this group just happen to be partners in DRP. PAD is an organization of DRIVERS and TEAMS.

With that out of the way, let me get on with the article.

I would like to point out that I think that this new association of drivers is a good idea. Solidarity among racers is greatly important to the sport of drag racing. The fact that it (PAD) is independent of any other organizing body (ie; PDRF, Inc. and ProSpeed) ensures that bias toward either events promoters, isn't an issue.

The first general assembly was held in two parts. First, in side Fat Willy's at the Fort, then in front, in the parking lot (too many people). Off to a shakey start, the principal organizers of the meeting were two hour late! A few people who showed up on time left thinking that they had mistaken the 6pm meeting time for 6am. I hope that future meetings will begin on time, since this will certainly affect the credibility of its officers.

Speaking of officers, this first meeting was also the election of PAD's officers. Below is a list of those
voted in to office.

Chairman- Dondi Montecillo
Northern Region Secretary- Kathy de Guzman
Southern Region Secretary- Reggie Garcia

Team Council Heads:
Fusion R- Boboy Rabe
Gaspeed- Vanni Garcia
Goodwrench- Toby Sta. Cruz
Group N- Mark Edmaldia
Matonetics- Mato Tan
Racing Zone/Start Motorsports- Jesse Go
Redline Racing- Dondi Montecillo
R Performance- Reggie Ramos
Select Boys- Rommel Flores
Speedpro- Conrado Carancho

The meeting stared at 8pm, roughly and ended past 11pm. Most of time was spent waiting for team
members and team leaders. Organizing everyone in to prospective groups also took a large chunk of time. When everyone was accounted for, the group moved in to choosing their new officers.

The next meeting is to be held at
10pm somewhere in between the Green Hills Theatre and the Jollibee parking lot, on January 6th, 2001. To those who want to attend and be part of PAD, please be there ON TIME.

The winner of the Quick 8 Category of the ProSpeed Quarter Mile 2000 Event at the Manila Harbor Center. Raymond, driving a Honda Civic TypeR, motivated by a highly tuned turbocharged engine, ran a best ET of 11.6 sec.!!!

Unfortunately, due to the downpour that ensued, the Quick 8 was the only class to finish. The other classes will have to be run on Dec. 9, 2000, at the same venue.
